Can't uninstall ArcGIS 931

I have a machine (XP) that I need to remove ArcGIS 9.3.1 (sp1) from.

When I go through the Windows Add/Remove and do a remove it fails with the following message:

"Error 1500. Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one."

--The error statement is incorrect. I turned the machine on, logged in, and tried to do the uninstall, so there's not another installation going on.

After this happened I tried to do a repair on the install, hoping that would make it possible for me to then do the uninstall. But that just raised the same error as the uninstall.

10.2 Startup Hang time?

Problem: On startup, Arcmap hangs for about 90 seconds with arcmap splashscreen stuck on "Finalizing Installation". It seems to be profile specific. Recreating my profile provided a temporary fix but the issue came back. Full uninstall/reinstall of arcmap had no effect. Is there any particular place in the user's profile folder that may be contributing to this issue?

Thanks for the ideas!

How to Deauthorize single use license, don't know ESU numbers

$

39230 - Deauthorize one or more of multiple concurrent or single-use licenses has a nice clear recipe for removing licenses from an end users machines. Excerpt:

Single-use licenses
  1. To deauthorize a single-use license, verify that SoftwareAuthorization.exe exists in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ArcGIS\bin".
  2. Open a command prompt window, and change the path to C:\Program Files\Common Files\ArcGIS\bin
  3. Run the following command to deauthorize the software silently:
    Code:

    SoftwareAuthorization.exe -return ESU123456789,ESU987654321 /s

It's missing one critical piece though: how does one get the list of ESU numbers authorized on that machine?

Problem with ArcGIS 10.2 install

When I run the setup.exe for 10.2 trial version, for some reason it gets stuck in a loop when writing system registry values. I tried 10.1 trial version, did the same thing. I let it run for 30 minutes, still no results. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Please Help - ArcGIS 10.1 not functioning in bootcamp (but ArcGIS 10.0 does?)

$

I had a prior student version of ArcGIS 10.0 running fine on my Macbook Pro in bootcamp running Windows 7, but for some reason when I installed 10.1, I started getting weird graphic display issues:

In a nutshell, after successful installation and authorization of ArcGIS 10.1, when I open an .mxd (v10.0 or v10.1), the scaling of the text is way too large in the table of contents and way too small in the menus and the mouse pointer/clicks are not functioning appropriately. The functionality of the tools still seems to be working (even though it is difficult to negotiate the mouse with the offset micro-menus). I presume it may be a graphics driver issue? The strange thing is that this is not at all a problem when running my previous version of ArcGIS 10.0 (the same .mxd that works fine in 10.0 has the graphics issues in 10.1). I have attached screenshots with details of my system to clarify my technical system details and an image depicting the problem itself.

I am running Windows 7 64bit home premium in bootcamp on a mid-2012 Macbook Pro with Intel HD Graphics 4000/Nvidia Geoforce GT 650M graphics. I have installed all of the associated bootcamp drivers (Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033) to run windows 7 in bootcamp and all other applications/functions are working fine. I have downloaded a student version of ArcGIS 10.1 (GTK ArcGIS Desktop 10.1) and I have successfully installed/authorized it. I made sure to follow the instruction from ESRI and install the .NET update as well. I sent a help request to ESRI, but doubt I will get much support on this.

I am a student with immediate assignments due and this is a real hang up for me. I'd rather not buy a windows machine just to run 1 piece of software.

Any other bootcamp ArcGIS users out there who can help me? I'm still confounded that 10.0 works but 10.1 doesn't...

Thanks,
Will

I installed all my single use software today and put in all my license information.

ArcMap opens and runs ok, but non of the extensions seem to work. They appear to be authorized, but I get an error saying they are not licensed. Did I miss something with the install and licensing? If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Perfomance issues

Hi

Running 10.1 on WinXp (yeah I know!) and have been having issues with starting up existing MXDs. When starting (clicking on MXD in Windows Explorer and drag/drop onto already open blank MXD) the load process hangs. The only workaround I have is to attempt to restart the load (click on MXD again) sometime twice. Problem appears to be worse in the last month or two.

Forums suggested a possible issue relating to orphan dll's, suggesting using the Categories.exe applet to remove orphans. I have identified a number of orphans in the Esri MX CommandBars and Esri MX Commands relating to an old installation of ET Geowizards10 (items have comment that file not found). Selectying these and clicking on the Remove Object button has no apparent effect, as the items do not disappear and are still there after a restart.

Can any offer ideas as to how to remove the orphans (which I know may or may not resolve the problem). Registry edit is difficult due to my locked down IT environment (govt department). Aternatively are there any other issues/solutions that may resolve the problem with opening MXDs?

ArcGIS for Desktop on Mac with Winebottler

Hi everybody,
I am a Mac user (Mac OsX Mavericks), and for a class I'm having this semester we are working with ArcGIS.
The school provided us the activation codes for the program (10.2), but, using a Mac, the installation was not easy.

Long story short: I installed ArcGIS with Winebottler and, when I open the Arcmap.exe file, a window pops up, saying Attachment 31309

I opened the ArcGIS Administrator, and everything seems in order:
Attachment 31310

What is the problem than?

Thanks in advance

Getting an error when opening an ArcGIS 10 MXD with ArcGIS 10.1

This is a Microsoft .NET Framework error. This occurs with I try to open an ArcMap 10 MXD using ArcMap 10.1.
The error state that "Unhandled exception has occured in a component in your application...".
Then states, "DragDrop registration did not succeed."

The computer is a Windows 7 (64 bit) with .NET Framework 4 Client Profile & FW 4 Extentded installed on it.
See attachment of installed applications.

I don't have any issues when I open a blank ArcMap & add layers from our SDE 10.0.

Anyone have any ideas?

Student Trial Version - Authorization problems

Hello,

I installed ArcGis Desktop 10.1 (I´m using windows 7). I got an authorization mail and followed the steps below:

Uninstall any previous versions of ArcGIS that you may already have on your machine. For best results, please download and use the ArcGIS Uninstall Utility.
Download ArcGIS for Desktop, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, and the files you would like to install. If you didn't download the files at the time you registered, you must repeat the process to get to the download option.

Please note that ArcGIS Data Interoperability, ArcGIS Data Reviewer, and ArcGIS Workflow Manager require ArcGIS for Desktop.
When downloading with the Esri Download Manager, you can select and download multiple products. However, only one product should be launched at a time when the downloads are complete.
Make sure you have write access to your download directory location as well as your ArcGIS installation directory location, and that no one is accessing it.

Install the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.
Install and authorize ArcGIS for Desktop.

Select a destination folder to extract the install files to. If you choose, you can automatically launch the setup after the files have been extracted.
When prompted, select ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced Single Use.
Enter your authorization number:......
[/I]

I tried to start arc map and arc catalog but received the message:

License
---------------------------
ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced is not authorized for use. Access the ArcGIS Administrator.
Click on the product folder on the left (e.g. Desktop), then select the Single
Use product you will be using and click the Authorize Now button. If you
have already received an authorization file from ESRI, choose the third option
'I have received an authorization file from ESRI and am now ready to finish
the authorization process'.

I´m confused about this message. I´m not sure what to do.

My authorization code isn't working. I put it through, but apparently it failed because when I try to open ArcMap, it tells me the program isn't authorized for use. However, when I try to authorize again it says my code isn't good anymore. What should I do? Thanks in advance.

Installation Error during install of ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2

Hi,

I am attempting to install ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop and encountering an error that prevents installation. I have removed my old 10.1 software and license manager. From the install splash screen, I select ArcGIS for Desktop setup, agree to the license, and request full/complete install. I accept the suggest directories and click next. The set up process runs for a bit then pops an informational message box stating: Error 2753: The File 'ESRIRegistrationMgr.dll.BC1EEb03_6C17_4E7B_A2CC_39697A1F7717' is not marked for installation. I click ok and the setup process states basically it was interrupted and to try again.

I have tried to install with my antivirus turned off and that did not work either.

OS: Windows 7 Enterprize, SP1 x64

Any clues on how to force the setup process to mark the file for installation?

Just installed ArcGIS 10.2.1 on a laptop with a 3200 x 1800 resolution display. The plus: lots of screen real estate for mapping. The minus: icons are extremely tiny. I have 20/20 vision and I can't see them. Any recommendations for fixing this or am I waiting for a new release?

Free trial installation problems

Hi,

I've been having difficulties authorizing the ArcGIS desktop free trial. The program has been installed but ArcGIS administrator will not allow me to authorize or launch the authorization wizard. I have looked at similar threads in this forum and most other problems seem to have been solved by checking the 'Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use' button. However, the ArcGIS administrator will not allow me to check any of the software product options and states 'Not_set' in the licence manager box. How do I solve this problem?

I would really appreciate any help any of you can give me as I start a new job next week for an engineering firm that uses ArcGIS. I haven't used this software since I was a student and could do with a bit of practice before I start.

Regards,

Chris

Can't install ArcGIS 10.2 tutorial data

I'm trying to install ArcGIS 10.2 tutorial data but can't since it says that 10.1 tutorial data is installed. I've checked everywhere but there's none. I checked registry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ESRI\ArcGIS Desktop 10 Tutorial Data but there's none.

I also tried running the cmd line for uninstalling as indicated here http://support.esri.com/en/knowledge...709msiexec.exe /x {41B76534-B3C2-4FCF-B171-5291A3561051} /qb

but it says that the action is valid only for products that are currently installed.

I've never installed 10.1 tutorial data so I'm still confused as to where the previous installation is coming from. Hope somebody can help me

Unable to borrow license 10.2.1

I posted in reply to another thread, but have not heard back, so thought I would start a new one. I am unable to borrow a license across the network, though the machine with the license server can borrow from itself. The other license server functions appear to be working correctly, just not borrowing. Is this a firewall issue or is there some other setting we need to change? The reason for borrowing is that I now, on occasion, have to VPN into another network, which disconnects my local connections (another issue that we are working on separately).

I have a Windows 7 64-bit machine. The one with the license server is Vista Business. The license server is 10.2 and I am running 10.2.1.

SDE connections never complete after 10.2.1. install

After upgrading from 10.1 to 10.2.1, everything seems to work fine, except for our SDE database connections. The connection just spins the hourglass, and never connects. An uninstall of 10.2.1 and reinstall of 10.1 allows the connections to work just fine. I have tested this on multiple machines (Win 7 sp1), connecting to sql server 2008 r2 database (10.1) on a windows 2003 server and to a sql server database r2 (10.1) on a windows 2008 server. Both connections never complete from 10.2.1, but are fine from 10.1.

I have tried upgrading from 10.1 to 10.2.1
I have uninstalled 10.1 before installing 10.2.1.
I have tried renaming the ESRI folders in the APPDATA folder.
I have installed updated dbms files.

Any ideas/suggestions on what to look at to get these connections working?

Having trouble installing ArcGIS for desktop

Hi all

I am trying to install this program on my computer, I have downloaded the installation files. When ever I click on 'Stetup.exe' I get an error message that says,

"This operating system is not supported or a service pack is required on this operating system. See http://support.esri.com for more information"

I have the operation system (Windows XP) and specifications needed to run the program and I have also downloaded "Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 Service Pack" and Windows explorer 8 just in case that was the problem.

Has anyone else had trouble like this?

Thank you
