ArcGIS License Server 10.2 under Linux continues to fail

$

In an attempt to update my license server with a new provisioning file, I've since encountered the following issues. My license server is on a Linux VM and has been operating without significant issue since 2010.
  • Attempting to authorize new licenses over the old, I received an "Authorizing Software Failed!" error message under the progress bar.
    Attachment 26889
  • Figuring I didn't deauthorize beforehand, I cancel and attempt to deauthorize. At this time, there are no licenses present - presumably the previous operation wiped the existing licenses I had installed.
  • Try again, and it fails again.
  • Realize that with the 10.2 licenses, I should probably update the license server software to the 10.2 version. Download the version, install, recognizes that the previous version exists and it performs an upgrade. Okay, everything looks good, let's try this again and... again authorization fails.
  • This time, I remove the software entirely. Make sure there are no hung processes. Reinstall from scratch (now seeing the UI instead of just the text-based upgrade installer) and try authorizing my licenses again. Again, it fails.
  • The licenses are from a Higher Ed site license and are annual. Thinking there might be an issue with my "expires in 2014" licenses, I try using some of the licenses that expire in a few weeks and were previously on the license server. Again, fails with little to no explanation.
  • The kick-while-you're-down comes that because it authorized with ESRI but failed to actually put the licenses on my server, I've since exhausted my available licenses in the Customer Care portal. (I've since emailed support@esri.com asking to reset my numbers.)

Has anyone else experienced the Linux license server's refusal to authorize new licenses? Any suggestions? This is really disappointing because it has worked just fine for the past few years and I thought a license upgrade would have been a 5 minute task, not an hour and a half and counting.

Thanks,
John

ArcGIS 10.2 active directory group policy install problems

$

Hi, This is the first time we are deploying ArcGIS with our domain's group policy. I've read the whitepaper and am running into some errors when adding the msi package to the GPO. The error says No Software Installation Data Object in the Active Directory. It seems to be a sharing/permissions error. The share is on a windows 7 box on the domain. It is shared with everyone, domain users, and domain computers and gives them permissions. Has anyone run into this? What is odd is we were able to add it one time, but then when we tried to create it later by deleting it and starting new, we got that same error even though no sharing or permissions changed.

What shared and file/folder permissions are officially required and by whom? And are there any group policies that would be changing this shared folder's settings? The white paper doesn't mention this.

Cannot Install on Windows 8 Possibly due to .NET Framework

Hello,

I am running an HP desktop with a preinstalled Windows 8 64bit, and am getting this error when installing ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 (I am turning off all programs and disabling Avast Antivirus).

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.MSXML2,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="6bd6b9abf345378f",version="4.20.9818.0",type="win32'".

I followed the instructions here to add RegistrySizeLimit:
http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/210...-won-t-install

That made no difference, and from what I was reading it seems like the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 needs to be installed. I went to 'Windows Features', but there is no check box to select the .NET Framework, see image:

Attachment 26922

I tried selecting 'Application Development Features', but get the error:

The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry but the specified file is not in a registry file format.
Error code: 0x800703F9

So then I download the .NET Framework 3.5 exe (dotnetfx35setup) from:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...ils.aspx?id=22

I run it in admin mode, and click yes to allow it to make changes to my computer, then absolutely nothing happens. I also try the same with the 3.5 standalone installer.

I then try using a Windows 8 bootable DVD and using the Dism cmd. As mentioned in this link:
http://support.esri.com/en/knowledge...s/detail/41097

This gives me another error as shown in the image:

Attachment 26923

Here is the dism log: Attachment 26925 and Attachment 26926 (part 3 can be added if needed, maxed out attachment limit)

I ran the .NET Framework setup verification tool from here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/arc...3/8999004.aspx

I used it to verify .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and this is the output:

Attachment 26924

So now I really don't know what to try next.
Thanks for any help.

Regards,
Reuben

Hi,

Does anyone know if the Postgresql 9.2 client files will work with ArcGIS Desktop 10.1? I am reluctant to upgrade Postgresql 9.1 to 9.2 if 10.1 clients cannot connect to 9.2.

Thanks,
Darren

No connection to license manager when authorizing trial version

Hi,

I installed a trial version of ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2 but I can't authorize it. Starting the program always gives the error message "can't connect to ArcGIS License Manager on Host "Not_set"". What does it mean and how do I get to the point where I have to enter my authorization number, which I have?
I had ArcGIS 10.1 previously installed but it was removed by the trial version 10.2. Might there be any hidden problems with an incomplete uninstallation?

I'd be happy about fast answers because it's the final countdown of my diploma thesis.
Thank you!

Hi,

I have noticed after installing ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2 i am not able to use the Search window.

It comes up when i click search under windows in arcmap and catalog. However it show up as blank with no area to put in a search query.

And when ever i click refresh a Microsoft .NET Framework error comes up.

Is this a bug in ArcGIS 10.2. or can someone help me fix this.

Thanks,

Rod

Hi:
My ArcGIS 10.1 free online 60 days trial has been expired and need to re-install the software again. Do ESRI provides the new code again? If so how is the process?

Thanks a lot for any help/comment.

Hi, I activated my EVA number online today, received confirmation email, and then used the DVD to install version 10.1. It's a student edition and I just got it today from our prof. Installation seemed fine, but authorization failed. I uninstalled and reinstalled, still the same thing. The error was: "7174: Only deployed entitlement line item can be fulfilled. [Incident#7163-10922242]". Anyone can help? Thanks.

ArcGIS 10.2 uninstall utility won't uninstall 10.1?

Why is this?

I realize 10.2 can be installed directly on top of 10.1, which is strange, but not everyone wants to do this.

My 10.1 has become corrupt, and I'm going to upgrade to 10.2 and can't use the utility to uninstall 10.1?

Error code 7174

I am not sure where I went wrong in my install of ArcGIS. I received a student license from my university. Its a new code, I just opened the packet today so I know it hasn't been used already. When I try to go and register the software it gives me the 7174: Only deployed entitlement line item can be fulfilled (Incident #0258-309-25613). I've tried selecting all of the extensions (which are included in the software license) and not selecting any of them and I still get the same error code. Does anyone know what I can do to fix the problem?

Main Executable?

Due to a computer crash about 2 or 3 days after first installing ArcGis Desktop a Windows Overlay had to be performed on my hard drive. Because of this all of my shortcuts have been deleted. I've been looking through the ArcGis Desktop folders for a min executable file to get ArcGis up and running, but cannot find it.

Does anyone know in what directory I can find the .exe that will start up the program?

Thanks!

ArcGIS 10.2 Desktop Tutorial will not install

I get the message:

"A version previous to ArcGIS 10.1 Tutorial Data exists on your machine. You must uninstall the previous
version of ArcGIS Tutorial Data before installing ArcGIS 10.2 Desktop Tutorial Data".

However, there are no previous installations on my machine! I have run the uninstall utility and seached
the whole hard disk, but found nothing. It is a total mystery. I did previously have ArcGIS 10.1 for Home
on my machine, but as said, it was all uninstalled and double checked that nothing was left.

Can`t use these services from Arcmap 10.1 SP1, I followed the instructions provided in Arcgis Resources, logged into my ArcGis On Line account, but I amnot able to see the services inside the 'My Hosted Services' folder. Instead, I just see a couple of buffers I ran in AGOL (and are part of 'My content').

Am I doing something wrong, or is it a known issue?

thanks a lot,

I edited my registry with the size limit thing, it involved creating a file and setting it's value to 8 f's, but I am still receiving this code.

I am using a windows 7 machine, 64 bit OS, 8gb ddr2 memory, an AMD duel core, and an NVIDIA GTS 250 graphics set up, that I am 99% runs an open GL. How can I fix this installation error?

Hello,
I'm teaching intro to GIS at the U of Cinci this fall and a number of my students are experiencing an odd issue when attempting to install their 1 year student evaluations.

The error reads:
7174: Only deployed entitlement line item can be fulfilled. [Incident# 3031-93966489]

The following thread hasn't resolved our issues: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/701...allation-Error

Thanks for your time and help!

64-bit Background Processing + custom Python install?

$

0
I installed AGD 10.1 on top of an existing Python distribution (Anaconda, if you must know). Then I installed the 64-bit Background Processing patch.

Because of the way Anaconda configures itself, I had to copy/create the '.pth' file in the directory 'C:\Anacondalib\site-packages' in order for ArcGIS to work. The PATH environment variable points to the Anaconda folder, but the 64-bit executables installed into 'C:\Python27'.

Do I need to do anything else to make sure the 64-bit background processing is working? Is there something I can do to verify that it's working?
