Missing ArcGISFileHelperLibEx.dll

After testing Arc 10.2 desktop, I needed to go back to 10.1. After installing 10.1 I get the error "The program can't start because ArcGISFileHelperLibEx.dll is missing" If it's needed, why wasn't it copied as part of the install?

LS Administrator 10.2 does not start on computer start up

I upgraded to 10.2 and all works great except that LS Administrator doesn't start the license. I have to click the start button every time. The windows service starts properly on startup but not the license. Other than windows service startup type I don't see any setting to auto start. Any help would be appreciated.

9.3.1 Extension installation question

Greetings -

I am attempting to modify a 9.3.1 installation so that the Maplex extension can be installed.

When I launch the esri.exe, I click through the Modify existing installation and select Maplex from the list of choices.

During the installation, a window appears identifying that "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'setup.msi' in the box below."

I have copied the installation files to the user's local drive, and navigated to the location of the setup.msi. When the installation resumes, another error message appears stating the following:
"The file 'C:\temp\93Desktop_ConcurrentUse\Desktop\setup.msi' is not a valid installation package for the product ArcGIS Desktop. Try to find the installation package 'setup.msi' in a folder from which you can install ArcGIS Desktop."

I am attempting to install the extension from the 9.3 install files as the 9.3.1 upgrade was an msp file that does not provide the option of adding an extension to an existing install.

I am hesitant to take the install back to 9.3 from 9.3.1 as there is a 3rd party application, Milsoft, that is running with Desktop.

Does anyone have any ideas as to possible work arounds to add extensions to an existing install when the setup.msi is not being recognized?

The existing installation is on a Windows 7, 64-bit machine.
Thank you.

"Folder" icon slows down ArcMap

To re-create the problem I'm having:
  1. Open the "Add Join" geoprocessing tool
  2. Click the folder icon next to the first field: "Layer Name or Table View"
  3. Imagine you have to wait 1-2 minutes for ArcMap to unfreeze

*Note that this is just an example. The problem affects all geoprocessing tools, not just Add Join.

I've gone into Customize-->ArcMap Options and Geoprocessing-->Geoprocessing Options and tried all of the obvious stuff. We have four identical computers (Windows XP, ArcGIS 10.1 SP1), and only this one has the problem. What's more, it appears to only affect one user. When a different person logs in, the problem doesn't appear to persist. I've found reports of similar issues with the "Add Data" button, but that isn't a problem here.

Thoughts anyone?

10.1 EVA number on 10.2

I obtained a copy of 10.1 form my professor. After typing in the EVA code it looked as if I was able to download 10.2. I have now downloaded it. However it is not working do to a linense problem. It never prompted me to check single use at the end of installing and when i got to ArcGis Administrator and choose the Desktop folder the licensing options are greyed out and unselectable.

Does a 10.1 EVA code work on 10.2? if so how can I get it to work?

Having an installation issue (not compatabile)

Hello,

I am currently trying to install the arcGIS desktop 10 (90 day free trial) for a class I am taking.

After my first download, I was getting a windows installer error and could not install the software.

Removed everything and downloaded the software a second time.

Now my error is: Unsupported 16 bit application: the exe will not start due to incompatibility with windows 64 bit?

Says it is incompatible with MY version if windows, as stated above (64 bit).

I hope that isn't too vague, but I don't know what to do. I did look and it said 64 bit windows does support this software.

Any help is appreciated.

Where are the Postgres Drivers for ArcMap?

I installed the demo of 10.2 to try out the new functionality of connecting to a PostgreSQL database. I created the database and can see my PostGIS geodata using other software.

This post mentions downloading the needed Windows client driver files from the Esri Customer Care portal.
http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/...000003q000000/

I can't find them there. Any thoughts?

I tried just using the same-named DLLs provided by the Postgres install /bin directory (64-bit PostgreSQL 9.2.4, available from Enterprise DB) but ArcMap claims that the drivers did not load when I try to open a connection to the DB.

Can ArcGIS 10.2 Licensing Manager (FlexLM 11.11) issue licenses to ArcGIS 10.1?

I maintain a licencing server in a University environment and we currently have ArcGIS 10.1 installed and maintain the licensing using FlexLM 11.10. One specific lab wants to upgrade to ArcGIS 10.2 which requires a newer version of the Licensing Manager (FlexLM 11.11). During some pre-production installation testing of FlexLM 11.11 I was not able to issue licenses to my test version of ArcGIS 10.1 but when I upgraded that installation to 10.2 everything worked fine.

Please advise on a fix for this issue.

Thanks

ArcGIS License Server 10.2 under Linux continues to fail

In an attempt to update my license server with a new provisioning file, I've since encountered the following issues. My license server is on a Linux VM and has been operating without significant issue since 2010.
  • Attempting to authorize new licenses over the old, I received an "Authorizing Software Failed!" error message under the progress bar.
    Attachment 26889
  • Figuring I didn't deauthorize beforehand, I cancel and attempt to deauthorize. At this time, there are no licenses present - presumably the previous operation wiped the existing licenses I had installed.
  • Try again, and it fails again.
  • Realize that with the 10.2 licenses, I should probably update the license server software to the 10.2 version. Download the version, install, recognizes that the previous version exists and it performs an upgrade. Okay, everything looks good, let's try this again and... again authorization fails.
  • This time, I remove the software entirely. Make sure there are no hung processes. Reinstall from scratch (now seeing the UI instead of just the text-based upgrade installer) and try authorizing my licenses again. Again, it fails.
  • The licenses are from a Higher Ed site license and are annual. Thinking there might be an issue with my "expires in 2014" licenses, I try using some of the licenses that expire in a few weeks and were previously on the license server. Again, fails with little to no explanation.
  • The kick-while-you're-down comes that because it authorized with ESRI but failed to actually put the licenses on my server, I've since exhausted my available licenses in the Customer Care portal. (I've since emailed support@esri.com asking to reset my numbers.)

Has anyone else experienced the Linux license server's refusal to authorize new licenses? Any suggestions? This is really disappointing because it has worked just fine for the past few years and I thought a license upgrade would have been a 5 minute task, not an hour and a half and counting.

Thanks,
John

----------------------------------------------
Hola,

Trouble with running multiple instances of ArcDesktop on same machine

$

Hi All,
Prior to upgrading our License Manager to 10.2, we were able to open multiple instances of ArcMap and ArcCatalog on the same machine without any issues. We are running Arc10.0 on desktops. There is an option file in the LM that calls for one ArcInfo to be reserved for one user and the other is true floating, however, in use most of the time.

If I open ArcMap and then attempt to open ArcCatalog or another ArcMap, I get the following:

Provide your license server administrator with the following information:
Cannot connect to license server system.
The license server manager (lmgrd) has not been started yet,
the wrong port@host or license file is being used, or the
port or hostname in the license file has been changed.
Feature: Arc/INFO
servername: name
License path: @name;
Flexnet Licenseing error: -15570

Attempting to change back to the old server which still has the LM on it (to be shut down later this week) it tells me that the server name isn't a license manager. When looking at the ArcGIS Administrator, it also says that there are no ArcInfo desktops available and I've logged out, so that isn't true. Using the script 'Where Have All the Licenses Gone' shows that only the other editor has ArcInfo open. He is also using the same server and license manager and Arc10.0.

What gives? If I have to take this back to LM 10.1 or 10.0, I need to do it tonight! I'm moving the editors and users over to the new server as I type!

Thanks

ArcGiS License Manager - "System Binding Changed" running Windows in VM

$

I've installed the ArcGIS Basic 10.2 with a floating license on a Windows 7 partition on my Mac. Everything is working fine if I boot up using a Bootcamp partition.

If I use Parallels VM, and boot into the same Bootcamp partition, the ArcGIS LM fails to start (Windows Services shows that it's not running, although it's set to Automatic). If I try to open License Server Administrator I get a message "System binding changed. Some licenses may not be available".

Is it possible to use the same ArcGIS License Manager running Windows in a dedicated Bootcamp partition, and also within a Parallels VM?

Thanks,
Steve

Does ArcGIS Engine support download map data(support offline data) on Windows 8 Pro?

Is there any document or note to clarify that if ArcGIS Engine support download map data(work for offline data) on Windows 8 Pro?
I am meeting a very curious issue. that is when installed ArcGIS Engine on Windows 8 Pro, we can download map data from server to
local by AO interface at first time. but it was failure a few days later, and always throw COM+ exception at below code.

IMapDocument mapDoc = new MapDocumentClass();
mapDoc.Open(fullMxdFileName, string.Empty); // fullMxdFileName is the relative position for the MXD file.
map = mapDoc.get_Map(0);// throw exception at this place

we used VS2010 and ArcGIS Engine 10.1&10.2.
Does anyone meeting this issue or give any suggestion?

Thanks

FGDB Connection

I just upgraded to 10.2 and lost all my feature connections(sources)to my FGDB.
I've been using the same FGDB since 10.0 and don't recall this happening before, is there something I
can do reconnect to all my data sources in my FGDB other than doing each one individually in my drawing?
Hopefully I can still use the same datatbase.

Trial version installation issue

Hello,

I just downloaded the trial version of ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2. I've never used the software, and am hoping to teach myself, after having used MapInfo and Manifold.

I ran the installation, which appeared successful. I expected to see a .exe file called ArcGIS 10.2. Instead, I'm seeing ones like ArcGlobe, ArcMap, ArcScene etc.

When I try to click on one, e.g. ArcMap, I get the following message;
"Could not connect to an ArcGIS license manager running on host "Not_Set"

I'm confused as to why there's an error message involving licenses. There should have been an option somewhere (or even a defualt) to just run trial mode. Can anyone help me?

Thanks
