10.1 Installation Error

Hello!

I am trying to install 10.1 on my laptop but I keep receiving this error:

7174: Only deployed entitlement line item can be fulfilled. [Incident# 5700-411179033

I have a Dell Studio laptop running Vista Ultimate. Does anybody know how to remedy this situation?

ArcInfo 10 Concurrent Use

Hi everyone,

I have configured the desktop at work to use a concurrent license using license server "GIS-PC". I have also set up my laptop to use from home named "IT-PC". However, my laptop has to be on the same network as the "GIS-PC" to use this license. How will this work when I am at home since it will be my home network? We have a VPN at work but it only has ArcReader on it. Do I need to have our IT company install ArcInfo on the virtual machine? Thanks!

10.1 sp 1 and 32/64 bit Python versions?

I just installed 10.1 Service Pack 1 and the 64 bit Geoprocessing. The installer added a 64 bit version of Python 2.7 but it left the 32 bit version in place. I'm wondering if I should leave the 32 bit version or remove it? If it can be removed, how?

Failed to deactivate Evaluation License prior to update to windows 8.

I know is my faults but can anyone help.

I recently did a fresh install of windows 7 which I then updated to windows 8. Prior to doing the fresh install I failed to deactivate my Evalution License. On reinstalling ArcGIS onto windows 8 and attempting to activate same using my EVA license I received.

"Authorization denied because request would have exceeded max copies or invalid activation data found. The following codes encountered problems (EVAnumber)"

Is there anyway to deactivate the previous installation so that I may continue to evaluate the software and complete my course.

Previously I thought I saw a tool for this purpose but have been unable to relocate it.

10.1 License Manager crashed Windows Server

Hi All,

We just installed the 10.1 License Manager on a new 2008 R2 Windows Server (ArcMap will go on two other servers and point to the license manager). The LM install went fine and the authorization went fine, but it COMPLETELY CRASHED after the reboot. Full-on blue screen with the following error:
"Stop: c00002e2 Directory Services could not start because of the following error: A device attached to the system is not functioning"

The crashed server is a backup domain controller, with a Citrix license server, and a remote desktop services license server.

Any thoughts???!??? Thanks -

ArcGIS 10.1 desktop install failing - advice please

Hello all,

I am currently rolling out the ArcGIS 10.1 upgrade to all the GIS computers in our oraganisation.
All systems are upgrading from 10 to 10.1 and I have done about 13 upgrades so far with no problems.
However, today I hit a problem PC which I can't seem to get around and if anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate the input.

After uninstalling ver.10 using the utility on the ArcGIS disc I then install "ArcGIS for Desktop", which proceeds without problem.
But when I try to install the "ArcGIS Data Interoperability for Desktop" it gets about a third of the way through and then gives me the following error:

Error:1305. Error reading from file: C:\Program Files\Esri\Data ....\Canada\ntv2_0.gsb. Verfiy that file exists and that you can access it.

I have tried the following to remedy the situation:
1) Check location and confirm that the file ntv2_0.gsb is where it should be and that there are full read/write permissions on it.
2) Roll-back and retry the "ArcGIS Data Interoperability for Desktop" again - same error
3) Uninstall ArcGIS 10.1 and restart the PC and then install from the beginning again - still hits me with same error.
4) Uninstall ArcGIS 10.1 and run every registry/cache/temp file cleaner I can think of - same error still occurs.

I can't think of anything else to do to get this to install to work so any insults/advice/recommendations would be most welcome

ArcGIS10.1 SP1 installation Error

While I am trying to install arcgis10.1 sp1 on a Win7(64) I get the following Error:


Installer Information
Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact you support personnel or package vendor.

Any advice please?

ArcGIS10 SP4 - File Menu half greyed (grayed) out?

A colleague of mine has shown me this afternoon that he only has a File Menu in ArcMap down to "Add Data", below this the menu is greyed out and he cannot select anything from that half of the menu.

He cannot remember if he was doing anything specific at the time and has tried a reboot. I've looked on Google and can't find any information on this error.

Ideas, anyone? We're on ArcGIS10 SP4.

I got a license from my school to install ArcGIS. I downloaded it and installed it, but when I launch Arcmap I receive an error window that reads:

Provide your license server administrator with the following information:
Error Code = -96

License server machine is down or not responding.
See the system administrator about starting the license server system, or make sure you're referring to the right host (see LM_LICENSE_FILE).
Feature: ARC/INFO
Hostname: Not_Set
License path: @Not_Set;
FLEXnet Licensing error:-96,7. System Error 1101 "Comm. error"

I am running on 64bit Windows Vista.

Problem re installing ArcGIS after formating Windows7

Hi folks,

Here is the situation : I downloaded and installed ArcGIS v10. from ESRI server without any problem. I used an EVA key from my uni. and everything worked perfectly.

2 days ago I formated my windows hard drive after saving my important data. Now I want to download again ESRI's software from the server. I choose the option "I have an ArcGIS Education Edition...", then I open my ESRI account (created at the first instal), it asks me to enter the EVA key and finally returns me a message warning me that my EVA code is already used etc...

Do you know how I could proceed in order to install the software and use my personnal EVA code...

ESRI download manager freezes

In downloading ArcGIS_Desktop_101_129026.iso via Google Chrome, the download manger freezes -- stops showing activity on the Java Details pop-up window. How do I get it going again? Note: if I click Pause after freeze, the Resume button remains grayed-out.

if not available what can i do for install the dot net sdk.

Installed ArcGIS Desktop 10 Education Edition--now where is ArcGIS Administrator??

I am trying to install on my Windows 7 laptop ArcGIS Desktop 10 Education Edition from an unopened DVD provided by my campus software distribution office. First I went online and activated the authorization number from the DVD sleeve with my ESRI global user account, and got a message confirming the activation was successful. Then I did a complete install from the DVD. After the installation completed, the ArcGIS Administrator wizard opened, and I followed the steps to authorize the education edition found at http://www.esri.com/apps/products/ar...help/index.cfm. However, the authorization failed ("preparing authorization failed...unable to prepare your authorization"). I had an active Internet connection, and had disabled my Norton Internet Security software. Now, although I can see all the ArcGIS desktop programs (ArcCatalog, ArcGlobe, ArcMap, etc.) under Start\All Programs\ArcGIS, I cannot find ArcGIS Administrator anywhere to retry the authorization.

ArcGIS 10.1 and python add-ons

Hello,
I recently installed ArcGIS 10.1 on a 64-bit machine (Windows 7 Enterprise). It works just fine and also installed Python 2.7 just fine.
I am now trying to install some python add-ons like py2exe and matplotlib. Whenever I start the installation I get an error, that Python 2.7 can not be found in the registry and the installation aborts. Has anyone ever had this issue and knows how to fix it?

Licenses are blocked

Hallo,
We use ArcGIS 10 SP4/SP5. All our Licenses are on the License Server(SP5). When a User wants to work with ArcGIS, he gets an error because all Licenses are in use.
When we check our License Server, we can see which User and Computer has taken a license. When we look at one of the computers, we cannot see any ArcGIS Processes in the Task Manager.
We shut down the computer, but the the license is still blocked. Only a stop and start gives us the licenses back.
Every computer that blocks a license without starting ArcGIS etc. has started lotus notes and an office product (word, excel, ppt).
What is the cause of the blocked license?
Is there a different solution to get the licenses free?

Point Symbology

I recently had 10.1 installed. When I go to change the symbology for a point I get letters where the normal default circle, square, triangle, ect... are usually. When I go to the Symbol Property Editor, I have no ESRI font. How do I get the ESRI font added?

Error setting ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 Service Pack 1

When trying to apply ArcGIS 10.1 Service Pack 1 on a Windows 7 64 Bit with ArcGIS Desktop version 10.1 build 2944 We are getting the following error:

WARNING!!!! v10.1 SP1 install failure

I downloaded and tried to install SP1 on Desktop 10.1 now the application won't start at all.

In fact, after a little bit of investigation it turns out that NONE of the ESRI software on my laptop will load, both the ESRI and native Python installs are corrupted, and I'm now getting windows registry errors relating to some of teh hundreds of registry changes made during the install...

After speaking with one of the IT guys and having him remote into my machine he's of the opinion it would be easier and less time consuming to wipe it and reinstall the OS and all of my software.

Somebody *PLEASE* tell me thats not the case and there is a simple way to reverse the SP1 install...

Oracle Database connection failure

Hi,
I am in the process of trying to install/upgrade to ArcDesktop 10.1. We currently have 9.3 SDE on an oracle 9i database. I have created a new oracle 11.2.0.2 database and brought over all of the schemas. I have installed ArcDesktop 10.1 and when trying to create a database connection with ArcCatalog I get a "failed to connect to the specified server. do you want to continue? Operation Failed." If I put in the tns name for the instance running the 9.3 SDE on the 9i database it will connect and ask me to upgrade. But the new database on 11gr2 fails.

I have tried ezconnect and tnsnames to the new 11gr2 database with 0 luck. I have tried the 10g client, 11gr1 client, 11.2.0.2 client, 11.2.0.3 client (the 32bit versions of all of them) and nothing works. I have read several threads with the same issue and the solution was to use the 32 bit client. My PATH and TNS_NAMES variables are set correctly. Of course I have no problem connecting to the database with sqlplus, etc.

The database is oracle 11.2.0.2 on oracle unbreakable linux 5.7.

When I enter the connection details, if i purposely put in an incorrect password it will tell me bad login information. So it is definitly hitting the database.

Any ideas? I could have missed something from the documentation.
